Existing Furniture in a Guest Bedroom

Location: Athens, Georgia

Designer Credits: Cassy Young, AAS, Allied ASID

Project Overview:

The owners of this home moved to Georgia in order to be close to their children and grandchildren. They brought many pieces of furniture from the previous house, in particular for the guest bedrooms. The main directive given to our interior designer from the client was to use their existing furniture in the guest bedroom, but try to keep it fun!

Existing Furniture in a Guest Bedroom

The home was purchased with faux wood blinds that did not reflect their style, and there was a need for privacy at night but to allow as much light as possible into the home during the day.

Guest bedroom solution

Using the homeowners existing furniture, the designer selected transitional bedding that provided texture and pattern. A large scale art piece with vivid gold leaf accents fills one wall, while balancing the strong geometric print in the embroidered linen panels on the opposite wall. Traverse rods with rings in black and bronze painted finish open the drapes to control light and privacy. Coordinating lamps provide textural interest by the bed. Reupholstering a chair in the corner completes the guest room.
