First place in kitchen design

Kitchens, First Place

The new homeowner had the space she needed to create the kitchen of her dreams. The family loves to cook together and wanted multiple surfaces to allow them to work in tandem. The kitchen was worn, finishes were dated and the placement of the angled, two level island cut down on the work spaces available. In addition, the Travertine floor could not be replaced without major expense. They wanted a clean, fresh white and gray kitchen, and adjacent eating are with streamlined details.

Cassy achieved the client’s goals with a full transformation, The kitchen is stunning with a huge new island and white and gray finishes including the beautiful mosaic marble backsplash in various shades of white and gray. To avoid interrupting the pattern, electric outlets were moved to the underside of the cabinets using slim profile outlet boxes.

Home Office 2019 Winner of Dream Room contest

Home Office, First Place

This started as an outdated masculine home office that desperately needed to be updated for the Interior Designer’s own home office. There were dark-stained built-in cabinets, mantle and coffered ceiling treatment that felt heavy. While the grasscloth wallpaper was in good condition, the color didn’t work with the new plan. A feminine scheme was necessary to update the space.

Painting a medium gray on the built in cabinets, mantle, trim, and coffered ceiling detail was a huge part of the fresh update to the room. Paired with a monochromatic paisley wallpaper of friendly pineapples, the colors soften the space. A white leather office chair tucks into the desk. Upholstered pieces, including a bright pop of strawberry pink, mix with a soft rug in shades of gray, pink and coral. The pink is repeated in the drapery side panels hung on acrylic drapery rods, throw pillows and art. Now this home office is a feminine retreat!

Award-winning Family Room 2019

Family Room, Second Place

This sorely outdated family room has beautiful views of a golf course and lake. It was a perfect candidate for Cassy’s skills as an interior designer. Painting the walls gray with the trim and coffered ceiling a fresh, clean white gave the space an open fresh feeling. Built in cabinet doors and the mantle were replaced and painted for a streamlined finish. The biggest impact with painting and sealing the travertine flooring in a transparent white finish. Now that the envelope was perfect, it was time to fill the room.

Cassy started with a large tonal grey abstract rug in a soft chenille texture. This defined an expansive seating area including a transitional sofa in a no-worry Performance fabric. Soft nubby fabric on a modern, sleek recliner, along with two chair and ottoman combinations assure comfort for the family and their visitors. Textures in the upholstery fabrics provide variety with a relaxed and welcoming impression. The view is framed by side panels in a subtle pattern on painted wooden rods with rings. The circular pattern on the drapes, along with the curved lines of the upholstered cocktail table and ottoman offset the straight lines in the room.
