Stunning traditional dining room

Dining Room wins
Multiple Awards

Cassy’s design of this sumptuous dining room was judged first in the Dining Room category, and overall best room in the whole competition endowing on her the title Designer of the Year.

As part of the Dream Room awards competition, fellow franchisees also vote for their favorite entries. As winner of the Donayre Award, Cassy was judged by her peers who also loved this beautiful dining room. The Donayre Award is named for Carol Donayre Bugg, ASID, retired VP and Director of Design.

The traditional style shows classic design with wallpaper in an updated colorway. Antique mirrored tile was installed into the niche. The mahogany and gold leaf table offers seating for large dinners lit from above by a transitional black chandelier. The rug and velvet drapes add another level of luxury.

Bathroom design entry: 1st place winner

1st Place

Cassy also won first place for her own bathroom which had been a very tricky space to design. With a reconfigured layout that resolved multiple functional issues, the entry into the room was relocated to give more width and allowed for a  custom double vanity with generous storage. A window was also added for more natural light. The deck mounted tub was replaced with a sleek, freestanding tub and an  elegant chandelier with crystal accents highlights the tub area.

Drapes combined with motorized shades add elegance providing privacy and light control. The custom painted vanity on tapered legs combines with sparkling sconces for an elegant touch. Trim work on two walls emphasizes the tall ceilings and offers an additional layer of detail. But the highlight of the room is the oversize tile floor in a modified Versailles pattern. The soft gray works to ground this light, bright room in a beautiful way.

Updated traditional living room

Living Room
2nd Place

Cassy started with a furniture layout that encourages conversation while allowing access to the adjacent porch and views. An elegant sofa with curved arms and front, upholstered in a soft textured velvet defines the space while taking advantage of the view to the back garden. Lavender textured velvet ottomans can be moved throughout the room.

Taking a cue from the favorite painting of the Eiffel Tower, lavender accents liven the room. A variety of finishes on the tables and chest relax the space and make it welcoming. Two layered rugs anchor the seating arrangement. Lighting was important in this space, so a gold leaf chandelier was installed and lamps added.

An arched passage into another room was highlighted with a trompe l’oeil wallpaper, offering more texture to the space. Drapes in an updated traditional floral with a band of lavender-washed linen offer subtle pattern. Lightweight sheer drapes on a decorative gold traverse rod control the light.

This room is a lovely place to enjoy a glass of wine with friends, or to dream about travel to a beloved city far away.
