A traditional design brings life to this dull space
Interior designer Cassy Young started with a classic wallpaper in an updated color palette of gray, black and white to distinguished the space from the hallways and the entry surrounding the room. Antiqued mirrored tiles in an arabesque shape were installed on the back wall of the inset to add subtle texture and a sense of mystery.
A long mahogany and gold-leaf reproduction table with self-storing leaves offers seating for twelve diners. Black side chairs mix with cane host chairs to provide comfort for relaxing during and after meals. A transitional black iron chandelier with gold highlight compliments the furniture pieces.
A clean lined buffet with gold hardware provides a layered, collected element to the room and a large hand knotted rug is luxurious underfoot. Framed intaglios accent without overpowering the wallpaper. Various vases and urns bring classic elements to the table and buffet. Rich velvet drapes with a subtle sheen bring texture. Gold drapery hardware, including medallion hold backs provide an elegant touch.
This is truly a sumptuous room.
