An Unfinished Space

This unfinished space provided a wonderful opportunity for additional guest space. It has a private entry from the exterior and access to a shared bathroom. Due to the existing ductwork and plumbing lines, dropping the ceiling was the best option to avoid awkward bulkheads. However, this made ensuring that this space felt light and bright even harder.

Project Overview:

Going in with a fresh white paint on the walls, ceiling and trim helped brighten up this basement bedroom. A king size upholstered bed is centered in the space and grounded by the moody tones in the bedding. The glassed exterior entry door allows for natural light to come into the otherwise windowless space and to give the guest light and privacy control motorized Duette shades with top/bottom function were installed.

Three upholstered ottomans sit at the end of the bed and ensure that unpacking will be an ease when you stay here. The addition of a writing desk provides a quiet space for any last minute emails or projects someone may need to wrap up before a weekend of fun. After socializing, there is no better place to wind down with a nice book than the private sitting area. This is truly the guest suite people dream of.
